Basketbolen Klub Spartak Pleven ( Bulgarian Баскетболен Клуб Спартак Плевен ) is a Bulgarian basketball club from Pleven .
history
The association was founded in 1947 as Plama Plewen . Under this name, the club also won its two championship titles in 1995 and 1996. In 1997 they renamed themselves to BK Spartak Plewen .
Since the early 1990s, Pleven has been an integral part of the highest Bulgarian basketball league. After the two titles they finished second again in the regular season, a higher position has not been achieved since then and they have not reached a final either.
Between 1995 and 1997 the club took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup, where it was eliminated early. After a long period of abstinence from Europe, they tried their hand at the EuroChallenge in 2009 , but failed in the qualifying round.
