BMW 018

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The BMW 018 is a turbine air jet engine from the German manufacturer BMW , which was developed from the turboprop BMW 028 . The propeller, propeller gear and a turbine stage were simply left out, so that the BMW 018 had three turbine stages. The calculated fuel consumption should be around 25% lower than that of the BMW 003 . The BMW 018 was the most powerful engine developed in Germany during the Second World War. The construction of a prototype began shortly before the end of the war, but could not be completed.

The BMW 018 was intended for the production version of the Ju 287 and for the Henschel project P.122 (reconnaissance aircraft), in both cases with two engines each.
