Bundesrealgymnasium Landwiedstrasse (2010)

The Bundesrealgymnasium Landwiedstraße (officially Bundesrealgymnasium Landwiedstraße 82 ) is a general education secondary school in the Linz district of Keferfeld .

history

Hummelhof

In 1883 the Hummelhof went to Karl Franck, but was then taken over by Eberhard von Sick in 1921. 1957 the district of Hummelhof goes to the WAG . An artists' farm is being planned. A branch of the women's high school was established here from 1960, and the “Hummelhof School” only became independent in 1968. An adapted farm serves as the school building. It was only ten years later that boys were accepted into the school.

Landwiedstrasse / Europastrasse

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new school building in Landwiedstrasse took place on September 25, 1981. In 1984 classes are held in the new building for the first time. On March 22nd of the following year, the ceremony for the handover of the federal school center Linz-Süd takes place. Josef Amstler is the director at this time. In 1987 Brigitte Exl took over the management of the school. She held this position until the 1990/91 school year. In the school years 1991/92 and 1992/93 Gertraud Kusdas held the interim management position. In 1993 Franz Matscheko took over the position of director. 2007/08 the administrator Keplinger was director for one year. Matscheko's successor will be Robert Michelic in the 2008/09 school year.

General

The Landwiedgymnasium has two IT, biology, work and drawing rooms. A chemistry room and four gymnasiums are also available. The BRG Landwiedstraße has a special modular system (from the tenth grade) for putting together lessons (see compulsory elective subjects ).

School types

The BRG Landwiedstraße offers branches in lower level 3 (or 2) and in upper level 2 (from the seventh grade / eleventh grade).

Lower level

Course system: In the third and fourth grades, students have the option of choosing two hours per week of specialization.

Scientific laboratory

In this course, emphasis is placed on the natural science subjects: alternating chemistry, biology and physics. In these two hours a lot of experimentation is carried out and attention is paid to the independent work of the students. However, theory is also taught - always illustrated with experiments. The fields of chemistry, physics and biology are combined in projects.

Presentation and design

This branch wants to combine the subjects of technical work, textile work and art education. It is intended to promote the creativity of the students and improve their design and presentation skills.

Language & communication

This course improves the communication skills of the students - both in German and in English. Speaking, reading, acting and performing are part of the curriculum.

Upper school

In the upper level, the branches Biology / Physics and Descriptive Geometry are available. However, their focus is self-explanatory. One should pay more attention to the elective subject system .

Elective courses

In the second half of the fifth grade, students have to choose so-called elective subjects. You have to do at least ten additional units. This division of hours then takes effect in the sixth grade. You can choose from different subjects and thus set priorities for in-depth and extended elective subjects (WPG) yourself.

Expanding WPG

These are subjects that would otherwise not be taught and can only be chosen over three years: Spanish, Computer Science, Performing Geometry (DG), Music Education (ME) and Art Education (BE).

In-depth WPG

These complement existing items. The items from this group can be chosen either for the seventh and eighth grade, for the sixth and seventh grade, or only for the eighth grade. As an exception, it is only possible to choose for the seventh grade if the total of ten hours per week has already been reached. These are necessary in order to pass a school leaving examination in these subjects.

The school logo stands for the scientific / technical orientation of the school.
