BSG unit goods

The company sports community (BSG) Einheit Waren is a former sports community, which during the time of GDR sport was mainly known for handball .

Field handball

In 1950/51, the Waren handball appeared for the first time across the GDR. As one of three Mecklenburg teams, BSG Aufbau qualified for the first field handball league. The top division of the GDR was played in two seasons, and at the end of the season it was only enough for building goods for the last place in season II. Thus goods had to compete in the newly established second-rate GDR league in the 1951/52 season, now under the name BSG Einheit Waren. There the BSG was able to assert itself for three seasons until 1954 when it was relegated to the third-rate district league Neubrandenburg . Until the cessation of field handball in 1967, unit goods no longer made it into the higher-class leagues.

Indoor handball

In indoor handball , Waren did not get beyond the third division. When district leagues were set up as the third division for the 1952/53 indoor season, the BSG unit was classified in the Neubrandenburg district league. Between 1953 and 1957, unit goods was district champion four times, but could not qualify for promotion to the GDR league. Even later the indoor handball players only played at the district level. From 1966 they appeared as BSG Verkehrsbetriebe Waren.

After the political change in 1990 , the handball section of the BSG VB was transformed into the registered association HSV 90 Waren.
