Back to Life (However Do You Want Me) is a number one hit by Soul II Soul and first appeared as an a cappella version on the debut album Club Classics Vol. 1 . The following single came out on June 17, 1989 and contained two new versions. The first supplemented the album version with instrumental accompaniment. The second is a completely new recording of the song with changed lyrics and the title has been expanded to "Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)". This version was the most successful in the charts. The video with Caron Wheeler became popular on the music networks.

There are several cover versions, including a single by Vanessa S. , also produced as a video , which was published in 2003 under the title Ey Ey Ey / Back to Life (feat. Said). The rapper The Game used the insert of the song for his song However Do You Want It (from his 1992 album ).

Back to Life reached high chart positions in several countries, including number one in the USA, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
