Caron Melina Wheeler (born January 19, 1963 in London ) is a British soul singer and songwriter .

Career

Caron Wheeler initially worked as a background singer , e.g. B. 1983 for Elvis Costello , but later also for Phil Collins or Erasure . She also sang in reggae bands such as Brown Sugar and Afrodiziak. Her first chart hits was the daughter of Jamaican parents when they the Soul II Soul -Hits Keep On Movin ' and Back to Life (HOWEVER Do You Want Me) lent her voice. Both songs were successful worldwide.

The debut album UK Blak was released in 1990, the decoupled singles Livin 'in the Light , UK Blak and Don't Quit made it into the UK charts . In 1992, the Londoner contributed a song to the soundtrack of the film Mo 'Money with I Adore You and thus placed in the British charts again. Their last chart success so far was in 1993 Beach of the War Goddess from the album of the same name , which also features a cover version of Jimi Hendrix ' Wind Cries Mary .
