Creation and publication
The song was released in 1988 as the first single from the album Big Fun . Big Fun was Dieter Bohlen and CC Catch's fourth album together and also the last studio album. The following year, the best-of album Classics was released , the first track containing a maxi version (5:20 minutes) of the song Backseat of Your Cadillac .
From the album Big Fun three more singles were released, but they could not build on the success of Backseat of Your Cadillac .
reception
In Germany, Backseat of Your Cadillac reached the top ten and was already the fourth top ten and eighth top 20 hit for CC Catch within two and a half years. In addition, CC Catch made it to number 1 in the ZDF hit parade for the first time (broadcast on November 2, 1988). The song was also a great success in other European countries and also reached the top ten in Spain.
