History, description, use

The two-story narrow eaves house in Badstüberstrasse was first mentioned in a document around 1700, it was located directly on the city wall, this area was called Pickhagen .

The widow of Martin Kraakhals was named as the owner of the house. Later residents of the house were the families of boatmen or helmsmen.

The merchant Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander Ransleben had it converted into a storage building in the form that has now been preserved, which can be recognized by the elevator wheel. The building at Wasserstraße 35 was also used as a storage facility.

The facade is plastered, the upper floor is half- timbered and there is a cellar. Remains of the medieval city wall are preserved on the ground floor.

It was still used as a warehouse until the fall of the Wall , but it was becoming increasingly dilapidated. Afterwards, the Stralsund private man Michael Wewezer bought the building, had it renovated in accordance with monument regulations and found a wood workshop as a tenant.

The house is located in the core area of ​​the city ​​area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site of the historical old towns Stralsund and Wismar . It is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund with the number 79.
