The Plochingen depot (short form: Bw Plochingen ) is a depot of DB Regio AG in Plochingen .

The depot is located west of the train station next to the railroad tracks leading to Stuttgart and can be reached from the street via the approach to the Neckarhafen . It is responsible for the maintenance of the multiple units of the Stuttgart S-Bahn . Furthermore, multiple units of the regional traffic Württemberg are also looked after. The current Plochingen depot was opened with the Stuttgart S-Bahn in 1978. Before that, the roundhouse of the old Plochingen depot stood in roughly the same place.

Furnishing

The Plochingen depot has six hall tracks. All tracks are approx. 140 meters long. Five of the tracks are divided into two stands. There are central pits on three tracks for maintenance work. These tracks are elevated so that you can work better on the vehicles from the side. There are two lifting systems on each of the two tracks to lift complete multiple units for axle replacement or maintenance work by approx. 1.5 meters. An underfloor wheel set lathe is installed in the middle of the track, which is not divided into stands. With it, the wheels of the vehicles can be profiled when installed. Roof working platforms are installed on several tracks. With the exception of one stand, all tracks are spanned with overhead lines.
