The Wolsztyn Railway Depot (Parowozownia Wolsztyn) is a locomotive depot in the Greater Poland Voivodeship in Poland , which is still home to steam locomotives and uses them as scheduled.

history

Today's Wolsztyn depot was built in 1886 at the railway junction in Wollstein ( Wolsztyn in Polish ) by the Prussian State Railways . In 1908 the round shed was expanded from four to eight parking spaces. It has a locomotive depot with a roundhouse and is now the last depot in Poland where steam locomotives are still regularly used for passenger trains. Part of the administration building is set up as a museum. Various railway vehicles, steam cranes and various steam locomotives are exhibited in the outdoor area and in the former freight station. A steam locomotive parade has been held here every year since 1993, bringing steam locomotive enthusiasts and steam locomotives from all over Europe together.

The existing operational steam locomotives are maintained by Wolsztyn Experience .
