Railway stations in Baesweiler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Baesweiler (in the Aachen city region ) there is no longer a train station today. As long as the Geilenkirchener Kreisbahn still existed, a total of three different train stations existed: the Baesweiler train station , the Jülicher Straße stop and the Carl Alexander mine train station .

history

Baesweiler train station

The station was opened in 1900 by the Geilenkirchener Kreisbahn. The West German Railway Company was responsible for building and managing the line . The Baesweiler train station was used for passenger and freight traffic. Although most of the goods traffic was handled via the Puffendorf station and the mine station of the colliery, the station had its own goods area for agricultural goods. This goods area consisted of a loading ramp and a double-track track area. In the opposite track area there was a warehouse with its own connection. The Dohmen family's freight connection , which later became the property of the Baesweiler savings and loan association, was located 200 meters from the train station .

The passenger trains stopped in the single-track area of the front station.

Carl-Alexander Baesweiler train station

The station of the colliery was used as a mine station only for the freight transport of coal. Passenger traffic did not take place. The rail connection was built for the colliery in 1925 because the Geilenkirchen circular railway could not take on this task. The freight trains were loaded and drove to the marshalling yard in Merkstein , where there was a connection to the " Ringbahn ".

Jülicher Strasse stop

This stopping point once belonged to the Geilenkirchener Kreisbahn. It was primarily built around 1900 for what was then the miners' settlement and has since been demolished when the GKB was closed in 1973. There has been a development area nearby since the 2000s.

future

The city of Baesweiler is hoping for a rail connection in the future. To this end, a branch line to Baesweiler is to be built from the ring railway. It is still open how the route should run.
