The Casa-Voyageurs train station ( French Gare Casa-Voyageurs ; Arabic محطة الدار البيضاء المسافرين, DMG Maḥaṭṭat ad-Dār al-Baiḍāʾ al-Musāfirīn ) is the most important train station in the Moroccan city of Casablanca and one of the most important hubs of the Moroccan rail network. The station is operated by the ONCF .

location

The through station is located in the eastern center of the city of Casablanca, approximately one kilometer from the coast and the city's port facilities. The second important train station in Casablanca - Casa-Port train station - is a good 2.5 km as the crow flies.

history

The station was built during the period when Morocco was administered as a protectorate by the French state. The station building was built in 1923 under the aegis of the newly founded Compagnie des chemins de fer du Maroc .

In the course of the construction of the new high-speed railway line from Tangier to Kenitra ( LGV Tanger – Kenitra ), construction of the new reception building began in March 2016, immediately to the northwest of the existing building. The construction work was originally supposed to be completed in July 2017, but was delayed together with the construction of the new high-speed line LGV Tanger – Kenitra.

The transverse structure was opened together with the new high-speed traffic between Tangier and Casablanca on November 15, 2018. The costs for the new building are said to have amounted to 450 million dirhams (107 million euros). The new building spans all five platforms and includes a customer center with ticket counters, ticket machines and various seating areas, as well as several restaurants, shops, waiting areas and a lounge for first-class passengers on the high-speed Al Boraq service .

Since 2012, the Casablanca tram has also been connecting the train station in the city center.
