The tramway Casablanca ( French: Tramway de Casablanca , Arabic. ترامواي الدار البيضاء - Trāmwāy ad-Dār al-Bayḍā ') is a tram network in the Moroccan city of Casablanca that went into operation on December 12 and 13, 2012 . The network with a length of around 47.5 kilometers includes two lines and 69 stations and is operated by Casa Tram with Alstom-Citadis trains.

Casa Transport has awarded the operation of the first tram line to the Casa Tram consortium, which consists of the RATP and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion du Maroc . The contract for the construction and vehicles of the first line is 1.1 billion dirhams (90 million euros).

Tram network

Line 1 connects the eastern Sidi Moumen district via the city center with the university district quartier des facultés . Travel time is around 69 minutes. Line 2, opened in January 2019, uses the former line branch of line 1 from Ain Diab Plage and leads via the city center to Sidi Bernoussi . You can change between the two lines at Abdelmoumen / Anoual and at Mdakra / Ibn Tachfine . Since 75% of the time the tram is preferred at intersections, the average speed is 19 km / h. During the week the trams run from around 6:30 a.m. to around 10:00 p.m. and on weekends until 11:30 p.m.

vehicles

134 Citadis 302 from Alstom are used as vehicles . The trams always run in double traction, so they are 65 m long. Alstom will be responsible for maintaining the vehicles for the next 15 years.
