King's Cross Thameslink station

King's Cross Thameslink was a train station on Pentonville Road in the London Borough of Camden . It was located on the Thameslink route, which ran underground in this area, and was served by First Capital Connect trains. A 600 meter long pedestrian tunnel connected King's Cross Thameslink with King's Cross Central Station and King's Cross St. Pancras Underground Station .

The train station in the Travelcard tariff zone 1 was partly on the same property on which the first metro station of the Metropolitan Railway was opened on January 10, 1863 . In 1868 the station was expanded to four tracks. The new pair of tracks, the Widened Lines , served the suburban traffic of other railway companies in the City of London and was also part of the north-south connection through the Snow Hill Tunnel . In 1941, the Metropolitan Line station (now the Circle Line and Hammersmith & City Line ) was moved further west, while British Rail trains continued to use the original station until 1979. In 1983 it reopened as King's Cross Midland City , and in 1988 it was renamed King's Cross Thameslink.

As part of the second phase of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link , a new Thameslink station was built under St Pancras station. This offers far better connections to the two main train stations and can accommodate longer trains. On December 9, 2007, King's Cross Thameslink was closed and the new station began operations. The pedestrian tunnel from the former station entrance to the subway station will remain open Monday to Friday.
