The Wuppertal-Küllenhahn train station (short: Küllenhahner Bahnhof) is a historic train station in Wuppertal . The station building is located in the district of Cronenberg in the district of Küllenhahn and is located on the Wuppertal-Steinbeck – Wuppertal-Cronenberg ("Burgholzbahn" or "Cronenberger Samba") railway that opened on April 1, 1891 and closed in 1988 .

history

The station was opened by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft in 1897 under the name Küllenhahn and was at that time the intermediate station on the line. In the early 1950s it was renamed " Wuppertal-Küllenhahn ". The general cargo handling was stopped by Deutsche Bahn in the early 1970s. Until the shutdown, a scrap dealer who was based at the station building was regularly served by freight trains.

The slate - clad half - timbered construction is now privately owned and has been registered as a monument since January 6, 1992, but is in a clearly visible poor condition. As the building is infested with dry rot and renovation is not economically justifiable at an estimated cost of around EUR 1.5 million, there is a risk of demolition. Because of the damage and the economically unreasonable renovation costs, the building was removed from the list of monuments. The owners applied for the demolition in summer 2015.
