The Bakharwal is a breed of Kashmiri dog that is not recognized by the FCI .
Origin and history
The Bakharwal dog, a Molossian , is a herd guardian dog in the Pir Panjal mountain area, Kashmir. The herdsmen of the nomadic tribes raised him to protect their belongings and to guard the herds. He is said to be one of the oldest races in the Himalayas.

Deep-chested, muscular and agile: the Kashmiri Sheepdog has a straight back and broad shoulders; the body is long-legged, with a powerful neck and a large head. The coat is of medium length, with plenty of undercoat, in black and various shades of brown, three-colored and piebald dogs also occur. Depending on the area, the size varies between 60 and 75 cm shoulder height.
