Bala and Festiniog Railway

The Bala and Festiniog Railway was a British railway company based in Wales .

The company was founded on July 28, 1873 by the Great Western Railway . With the construction of the railway they tried to get their own share of the slate transport from Blaenau Ffestiniog . The 35.4 kilometer stretch from Bala to Llan Ffestiniog was put into operation on November 1, 1882. The planum of the narrow-gauge line of the Festiniog and Blaenau Railway , which was acquired on April 13, 1883, was used for the extension to Blaenau . Standard gauge operation began on this section on September 10, 1883.

From 1879 the GWR had leased the line and took over the company on July 1, 1910.
