Baldur tanks

Baldur Panzer (born April 29, 1934 in Pestlin , West Prussia ; † December 25, 2017 in Walldorf , Baden-Württemberg) was a German university professor of Slavic studies and was a member of the Slavic Institute at Heidelberg University from 1974 until his retirement in 2002 .

Panzer studied Classical Philology, Indo-European Studies, Slavic Studies and Philosophy at the universities of Kiel, Hamburg and Munich from 1954 to 1961. He received his doctorate in 1961 under Erwin Koschmieder and completed his habilitation in 1966. In 1972 he was appointed professor in Munich, and from 1974 until his retirement in 2002 Panzer was Professor of Slavic Philology at the University of Heidelberg.

Panzer had broad research interests. He dealt with early historical stages of Slavic as well as with contemporary Russian and other Slavic languages.
