Baljet reaction

The Baljet reaction is an analytical method. This chemical reaction is used for the detection and colorimetric determination of cardenolides 1 . Picric acid 2 reacts in an alkaline solution to form mesomerism-stabilized Meisenheim compounds , including 3a to 3c :
