balkan black box

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

balkan black box is currently the only art and culture festival on Southeastern Europe in Germany . It was founded in 1999 and has taken place once a year in Berlin ever since . Over a period of one week, films, exhibitions, literature, theater, performance, music and discussions from and about Southeast Europe will be presented.

concept

The festival was founded with the aim of presenting art and culture from the post-socialist countries of the Balkans . Against the background of the fact that the Balkan companies are still a "black box" for many Western European countries . In the years since it was founded in 1999, the image of the Balkans has developed and changed significantly. That is the reason why new questions are always asked in the context of current processes of change and different topics come to the fore during the festival. Thanks to the specific focus and uniqueness of balkan black box, the festival is now attracting nationwide attention.

organization

The festival is supported by a group of international cultural workers who have different - biographical and / or professional - connections to Southeast Europe. The core team currently consists of around 15 people (as of 11/2008).
