Ballı Börek

Ballı Börek ( dt .: honey strudel ) is a traditional Anatolian food that is said to have a strengthening effect in folk medicine. The Börek dough is z. B. sprinkled with crushed hazelnuts, cinnamon and black pepper and sprinkled with sieved honey. According to traditional custom, Ballı Börek is eaten in the evening. Consumption by the elderly is considered inappropriate or harmful in some areas. In the Trabzon region , Ballı Börek is eaten a few days before the wedding. Women make Ballı Börek and send it to their future son-in-law. During the production there is a traditional alternating song between the families of the bride and groom, in which men are not allowed. The preparation is also kept secret from the groom's mother.
