The Stan James World Matchplay 2008 was a major tournament in darts and was organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was held from July 20th to 26th, 2008 in Blackpool's Winter Gardens .

The defending champion James Wade moved into the final again, but lost there to Phil Taylor , who was able to win his ninth title.
