Career

Beginnings

At the 2002 World Matchplay , Walsh made his TV debut when he lost 0-10 to John Part .

In 2004 he made his debut at the PDC World Championship, but lost in the first round with 0-3 against Erik Clarys . Also in 2005 he was eliminated in the first round when he lost 2-4 to Wayne Mardle . In 2006 , placed at 12, he finally won his first game at the World Cup, but then retired in the second round. In the first round he defeated Warren Parry 3-0, but then lost to Dennis Smith 0-4.

2007

He lost his place in the Top 16 or Order of Merit because he surprisingly lost in the first round of the PDC World Darts Championship 2007 against the 19-year-old Dutchman Rico Vonck . He entered the Order of Merit as 15th in that year, but was only 32nd at the end of November, which put his qualification for the 2008 World Cup at risk. Previously, he reached the semifinals of the Ireland Open Classic in September and won the Gleneagle Irish Masters, irrelevant for the Oder of Merit, in early November, underlining his rising form. He also reached the semi-finals of the PDC German Darts Championship .

2008

At the PDC World Darts Championship 2008 Walsh won his opening game against Adrian Gray with 3-2 and then met Phil Taylor . Although he was in the lead three times, he finally lost with 3-4, which he himself describes as a great success.

He continued his good form and reached three quarter-finals (including Open Holland Masters ). He also got into the round of 32 at the UK Open and the US Open . This was followed by a semifinal at the PDPA Players Championship Las Vegas and the second round at the Las Vegas Desert Classic 2008 , where he lost to James Wade . At the World Matchplay 2008 he reached the second round. After defeating Colin Lloyd , he lost to Kevin McDine . He also reached the second round at the World Grand Prix when he beat Steve Beaton in the first round and then lost to Terry Jenkins . He also reached the quarter-finals of the European Darts Championship 2008 and the final of the PDPA Players Championship Holland 2 , which he lost to Wade .

2009

At the 2009 World Cup , he defeated Jamie Caven 3-2 in the first round , scoring almost a nine dart finish . But this time too, the second round ended because he lost 2-4 to Mervyn King . On January 17, 2009 he finally threw a nine dart finish in the decisive leg of the Eddie Cox Memorial Players Championship against Caven, for which he received a bonus of £ 1,600.

Walsh secured his first PDC title in two years when he won the 2009 Coventry Players Championship on March 28, 2009. In the final he defeated Phil Taylor 6-4. He won another title when he defeated Raymond van Barneveld 6-5 at the UK Open Regional in Derby .

2010

Walsh, who was seeded at 12, was eliminated from the PDC World Darts Championship 2010 in the first round and lost 2-3 to Mark Webster .

2011

The 2011 World Cup was the most successful for him. He reached the last 16 after beating Justin Pipe 3-1 and Alan Tabern 4-3. In the last sixteen he then lost against the later semi-finalist Terry Jenkins with 0-4.
