Career
Lloyd made his TV debut in 1999, but the big breakthrough came in 2002 during the World Championship of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). In the Circus Tavern he reached the semifinals against Peter Manley . Since then, Lloyd has been firmly established among the world's top dart professionals. He won his first major tournament, the World Grand Prix , in 2004. In 2005, with a 170 finish in the last leg, he won the World Matchplay against John Part . At the turn of the year 2005/06 he was the world number one of the PDC professional darts association. At the beginning of 2007 he slipped back to 3rd place after the world rankings were changed to the Order of Merit .
In 2006 he threw his long-awaited first nine-darter in front of cameras in the last leg of the Irish Masters final - opponent was Dennis Priestley . A leg earlier he only missed the “perfect game” with the last dart.
At the Darts World Cup in London in 2008 , Lloyd failed in the first round against Jan van der Rassel (2: 3).
Colin Lloyd is considered to be one of the most nervous players on the circuit. Lloyd takes the stage with the song "Monster" by The Automatic .
On January 12, 2016, he announced his retirement from professional sport because he had lost his tour card with the previous year. He will continue to play exhibitions.
