Nine dart finish

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

With Nine dart finish (also Nine Darter or 9-dart-out , in German Neundarter or nine-darter ) a perfect pass is at a 501er- darts called. The game is won with only nine darts, the lowest possible number. This result is comparable to a hole-in-one in golf, a perfect game in baseball and bowling , a maximum break in snooker or an 8-ender in curling .

overview

The 501 game is about being the first to reduce your score from 501 to zero. There are many ways to do this, but at least nine darts are required.

In the internationally common game mode "Double Out", the game must be ended with a throw in a double field (also called "Double"). A nine dart finish is possible in this mode with 18 different combinations of the nine throws; it can be thrown in 71 different 3-dart scores.

In the "Double In" game mode, the game is played in the same way as in the Double Out, but each player must also begin his game by throwing into any double field. This mode is only played on the Pro-Tour at the PDC World Grand Prix . In this variant, the 9-darter can only start and end on bullseye (also called "double bull"), double 20 or double 17. It can be achieved with seven different combinations of the nine throws and thrown in 30 different 3-dart scores.

solutions

In the usual game mode 501 Double Out, there are 18 different combinations of nine throws to achieve a nine dart finish. In any case, six, seven or eight triple squares must be hit, with a triple 19, triple 17 or triple 15. The 3 combinations with six triple fields require exactly three bullseyes, the 4 combinations with seven triple fields require exactly one bullseye, the 11 combinations with eight triple fields exclude a bullseye. Each of the 18 combinations can be executed in different throwing orders.

For the double-in game mode there are only the 7 combinations with at least one bullseye. Because for this mode a nine dart finish is only possible if a bullseye succeeds in the first or last throw.

In the usual game mode 501 Double Out there are 71 different combinations of 3-dart scores to achieve a nine dart finish. Many 3-dart scores can be composed of different throwing points (e.g. 174 = 60 + 60 + 54 = 60 + 57 + 57). Furthermore, the three throwing points can be thrown in different throwing order (e.g. 177 as 60, 60, 57 or as 60, 57, 60 or as 57, 60, 60). Such 3-dart scores are considered the same in the table, so only the total of points from three throws is counted. The number of possible combinations from different throwing points is given in a separate column.

In the standard game mode 501 Double Out, professional players prefer variants in which the triple field (also known as the “triple field”) of the 20 is hit six times; this reduces the score by the maximum possible 360 points. For the finish, i.e. the last three throws (with the exception of the last dart, which has to be thrown into a double field), regardless of the throwing order, there are eight ways to bring the remaining 141 points to zero:

  • Triple 20 (60), Triple 19 (57) and Double 12 (24)
  • Triple 20 (60), Triple 17 (51) and Double 15 (30)
  • Triple 20 (60), Triple 15 (45) and Double 18 (36)
  • Triple 19 (57), Triple 18 (54) and Double 15 (30)
  • Triple 19 (57), Bullseye (50) and Double 17 (34)
  • Triple 19 (57), Triple 16 (48) and Double 18 (36)
  • Triple 18 (54), Triple 17 (51) and Double 18 (36)
  • Triple 17 (51), Bullseye (50) and Double 20 (40)

There is a special solution for the standard variant with double-out, which is considered the perfect 9-dart-out . However, this solution is so difficult to implement that it is usually only attempted at shows by a handful of professional dart players, but has not yet been achieved. To do this, the player must throw the following combination three times, each with 167 points:

  • Triple 20 (60), Triple 19 (57) and Bullseye (50)
