Jelle Klaasen (born October 17, 1984 in Alphen , Province of Noord-Brabant ) is a Dutch darts player . His previous nickname was "Jelle de Snelle", which is due to his very fast throwing technique. Until 2014 he called himself "The Matador". Today he is called "The Cobra". He has Indonesian roots.

Career

Jelle Klaasen became the youngest title holder to date at the BDO World Professional Darts Championship in 2006 . During the tournament he defeated Mervyn King in the second round and his compatriot and defending champion Raymond van Barneveld in the final . In 2007, Klaasen was eliminated in the first round against Co Stompé without winning a set.

In January 2007 he switched to the rival association PDC .

At the 2015 World Cup, Jelle Klaasen lost the second round match against eventual champion Gary Anderson 3: 4.

At the 14th edition of the Players Championship 2015 - day 2 in Wigan - Jelle Klaasen won the final against Ian White with 6: 2 and thus won a PDC Pro Tour event for the first time. This secured him a prize of £ 10,000.

At the 2016 World Cup, after winning over Cullen, King, Taylor and Norris in the semi-finals against defending champion Gary Anderson, he was eliminated from the tournament without winning a set.
