Jamie Robert Caven (born March 10, 1976 in Leicester , Leicestershire ) is an English dart player who is currently under contract with the PDC . His nickname is Jabba , alluding to the insulin syringes ( jabs ) that he has to inject every day. His running-in music is Tom Hark from The Piranhas .

Career

From 1992 to 2007 Caven played with the BDO and then switched to the PDC .

Caven qualified for the PDC World Darts Championship 2008 at Alexandra Palace, defeated Wes Newton 3-0 in the first round and then lost 4-1 to Wayne Mardle in the second round , although he had won the first set.

At the PDC World Darts Championship 2009 he lost 2: 3 in the first round to the number 21 seeded Mark Walsh .

Caven won his first PDC title when he beat Alan Tabern in the decision leg of the final at the UK Open Welsh Regional in Newport in May 2009 .

At the 2010 World Cup he was seeded for the first time in his career. But he lost in the first round, seeded at 26, against unseeded Gary Anderson 2: 3.

In 2011 he was also placed in 19th position. He won against South African Devon Petersen 3-1, but then lost 4-0 to Colin Osborne .

Private

Since August 15, 2009, Caven, who is a father of seven, is married to Debbie. At the age of 20, he developed pancreatic cancer . He has been a diabetic ever since , which is why he has to inject insulin at least four times a day. He is also blind on one side due to a bee sting in infancy.
