The Sevel Uruguay SA is an automobile dealer and former automobile manufacturers in Uruguay.

history

The company was initially located in Paso de Carrasco and, after the sale of the location there (1996), in Montevideo .

The company was founded in 1984 to represent Fiat. At the same time a license to assemble Fiat models was acquired. Ayax had already manufactured Fiat models in Uruguay at the end of the 1950s .

production

Automobile production began in 1984. By 1994 the plant covered 80% of Uruguay's automobile exports. After production by Sevel ended in 1996, the plant was sold to Oferol and used for the production of PSA vehicles and tricycles.

The company has been selling Fiat vehicles since the plant was sold . Iveco and the Chrysler Group followed in 2001 and 2011.
