Devon Petersen (born June 4, 1986 in Cape Town ) is a South African darts player who is currently under contract with the PDC .

Career

Petersen won the 2010 South African Open against Les Francis after losing to the same player in 2009. This victory entitled him to participate in the PDC World Championship 2011 . In the preliminary round of the World Cup he won against Norman Madhoo 4: 3 legs and qualified for the first round, where he met Jamie Caven . Although he won the first set, he still lost 1: 3.

In 2011 he was authorized to compete in the PDC Pro Tour. After Petersen decided to become a professional darts player , he moved to Brighouse , England and signed a sponsorship deal with Unicorn Darts .

In 2011 Petersen again won the South African Open, which meant qualifying for the 2012 World Cup . He had to start again in the preliminary round and defeated José Oliveira de Sousa 4-3 legs. In the first round he met Steve Brown , whom he defeated 3-2 despite a 2-0 set deficit. In the second round, however, he was defeated by the Scottish Gary Anderson 2: 4.

Together with Shawn Hogan he represented South Africa at the World Cup of Darts 2012 in Hamburg . Together they defeated Spain 5-2 in the first round and then won against the fourth-placed Scots in a sudden death leg. In the quarter-finals they were defeated by the team from Wales with 1: 3, whereby Petersen was happy too early when he hit the double 16, but had previously miscounted and Richie Burnett shortly afterwards decided the game in favor of the Welsh.

Due to an arm injury, he had to take a break in 2013 and did not take part in any tournament of the season.

Petersen gained great popularity with many darts fans through his dance, which he performs before many games.
