Martin Adams (born June 4, 1956 in Sutton ) is an English darts player .

Career

Adams began darts in 1981 and became a member of the BDO the following year . In 1992 he started his career as a professional darts player. In January 2007 he became world champion of the BDO, he won the final 7: 6 against Phill Nixon , who was able to make up a 0: 6 deficit. In 2008 and 2009 he won the Winmau World Masters .

In 2010 he was able to win the BDO World Championship again. There he prevailed against Dave Chisnall 7: 5. In 2011 he was able to defend this title by prevailing in the final 7: 5 against Dean Winstanley , who was placed third.

In April 2016, Adams developed prostate cancer . The illness forced him to take a long break, only in November of the same year did he make his comeback at the Grand Slam of Darts against Michael van Gerwen .

His nickname is Wolfie , his run-in music is Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran .
