BDO World Darts Championship 2018

The Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship 2018 was the 41st edition of the BDO conducted Darts - World Championship , from 6 to 14 January 2018 at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green ( England was held). There were separate competitions for men and women.

Last year's winners were Glen Durrant for the men and Lisa Ashton for the women. Both were able to defend their title.

Prize money

The 2018 World Cup totaled £ 399,000 in prize money, the same as the 2017 World Cup . The prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:

Format & qualification

A total of 40 players took part in the tournament. Among them were the 26 best placed players in the BDO Invitation Table , of which the best 16 players were placed. The other field of participants consisted of the finalist of the BDO World Darts Championship 2017 , Danny Noppert , nine regional qualifiers from the WDF and the four winners of a qualifying tournament for the world championship. 16 of these players started in a preliminary round. The remaining 24 players entered the tournament in the first round.

The tournament was played in the knockout system and in set mode. The preliminary round and the first round of the tournament took place from January 6th to 9th, 2018 and were played in the best-of-5-sets mode. The 16 winners of the first round advanced to the round of 16, which was played on January 10 and 11, 2018 in best-of-7 sets mode. The quarter-finals were then played in the best-of-9-sets mode on January 12th . The two semi-finals took place on January 13, 2018 and were played in the best-of-11-sets mode. The final was played in best of 13 sets mode on January 15, 2018 .

The British broadcasters Channel 4 (afternoon sessions, free TV) and BT Sport (evening sessions, pay TV) produced the live broadcasts, which were free to receive outside the United Kingdom and outside Ireland via the BDO YouTube channel with English commentary.
