Paula Jacklin (born March 24, 1957 in Gainsborough ) is an English darts player who competes in BDO tournaments under the nickname "Kickass" .
Career
First career years
Jacklin has been appearing at darts tournaments since 2012 when she first took part in the Welsh Classic in March . In the following year, the dart player secured third place in the English championship of women by defeating Suzanne Smith in the quarter-finals and was finally defeated in the semifinals by the world number one Deta Hedman . Jacklin's attempt to qualify for the BDO World Darts Championship 2014 by participating in a qualifying tournament failed because she lost 3-0 to Rilana Erades in the game for third place - in which the last World Cup ticket was played out . Her first participation in the women's tournament of the BDO World Trophy ended in the round of 16 when the right-hander lost 4-2 to Fallon Sherrock . But she reached the last rounds at several Opens and was able to secure her first title in darts with the Gibraltar Open in the same year. In addition, she came to the final of the Women's Top of Genth after she was able to defeat Sherrock in the semi-finals, but was defeated in this by the Dutch Aileen de Graaf .
Rise in the world rankings
In 2015 Jacklin qualified for a world championship for the first time because she improved her performance in the BDO Invitation Table last year . However, she lost her first game against de Graaf directly with 0-2 sets. Also at the next World Cup , Jacklin started as an unseeded player and also did not get past the first round. Because she also failed early in other tournaments in 2016, Jacklin subsequently lost places in the world rankings, so that she did not qualify for the BDO World Darts Championship 2017 , but did not go through a qualification tournament either. Only when her performance stabilized in 2017 did she rise again in the BDO Invitation Table . So she took part in the Darts World Cup again in 2018 , but failed again in round one to Aileen de Graaf. At the British Classic , she reached the semi-finals in the same year, which was the greatest success for the dart player in 2018. At the BDO World Darts Championship 2019 Jacklin failed a third time against the Dutch woman de Graaf in round one. At 61, Jacklin was the oldest female participant in a World Darts Championship.
