The Skol World Darts Championship 2002 took place from December 28, 2001 to January 5, 2002 in Purfleet . This world championship was organized by the PDC for the 9th time and took place in the Circus Tavern as in previous years .

The defending champion was Phil Taylor , who won the last seven of the eight world championships. In the final there was a new edition of the World Cup final of 1999 against his compatriot Peter Manley . As in 1999, Taylor emerged victorious from the match, defeating Manley 7-0 sets.

Tournament course

The field of participants consisted of a total of 32 players from 7 different countries. The game was played in a knockout system . The best 16 players of the PDC Order of Merit were set.
