The 1995 Proton Cars World Darts Championship was on 26 December 1994 to 2 January 1995 in the Circus Tavern in Purfleet , Essex discharged and was the second of the World Darts Council (WDC today PDC) oriented World Cup . Last year's English finalist Phil Taylor won the final against his compatriot Rod Harrington 6-2, while the top-seeded defending champion Dennis Priestley had already been eliminated in the group stage.
A total of £ 55,000 in prize money was awarded. The world champions received £ 12,000, the finalists £ 6,000, the semi-finalists £ 4,000 and £ 3,000 respectively and the quarter-finalists £ 2,000 each. The remaining participants were each entitled to £ 1,500 for second and £ 1,250 for third in the group stage.
Tournament schedule
The participants were divided into eight groups of three players each. The first match (December 26th) of a group was played by seeded player A and unseeded player B, the second match (December 27th) was played by the loser from match 1 and unseeded player C; the third match of all groups followed on December 28th. The group winners advanced to the quarter-finals, where the tournament continued in the cup system .
