The Ladbrokes .com World Darts Championship 2003 took place from December 27th, 2002 to January 4th, 2003 in Purfleet . This world championship was organized by the PDC for the 10th time and took place in the Circus Tavern as in previous years .

Phil Taylor , who won the last eight of the total of nine world championships, faced the number 2 seeded John Part from Canada in the final . However, this time the Canadian emerged as world champion from this game and ended Taylor's streak of 44 victories in a row at a world championship. Part was the first world champion who did not come from England.

Tournament course

The field of participants consisted of a total of 40 players from 8 different countries. From the second round, the best 16 players in the world rankings intervened in the tournament.
