Wayne Warren (born June 12, 1962 in Tynewydd ) is a Welsh darts player and the current world champion of the BDO .

Career

Warren started his darts career in 2003 with the British Darts Organization . In 2005 he qualified for the BDO World Darts Championship for the first time , but had to admit defeat to Mervyn King in the first round . Warren won his first tournament win at the BDO International Open in 2012. A year later, he took part in the BDO World Darts Championship for the second time , but lost again in the first round, this time against Alan Norris . At the BDO World Trophy 2015 , Warren had his greatest success to date in a major tournament. He fought his way to the quarterfinals and was able to beat the reigning world champion Scott Mitchell with 7-2 legs. In the quarterfinals, however, he lost to Jeff Smith . Not until 2018 did Warren qualify again for the BDO World Championship. He fought his way to the quarterfinals, in which he lost 4-5 sets against Mark McGeeney . Warren was also able to reach the quarter-finals in 2018 at the Finder Darts Masters and the World Masters , but had to admit defeat to Jim Williams and Adam Smith-Neale . At the BDO World Darts Championship 2019 he lost in the second round against Michael Unterbuchner with 0: 4 sets. In the same year Warren qualified fourth in the BDO world rankings for the Grand Slam of Darts 2019 , but lost all of his games and was eliminated in the group stage. At the BDO World Darts Championship 2020 Warren was able to achieve his first world title. He won the final against second placed and compatriot Jim Williams with 7: 4 sets.
