The event started on February 4th in the First Direct Arena in Leeds and ended with the play-offs in the O2 Arena in London on May 19th, 2016. A total of 16 game days will be played. On matchday 15, the first matchday in the Netherlands took place in Rotterdam .
The qualified players initially competed in each against each other on nine match days, before the last two players were eliminated on March 31 and received prize money for 9th and 10th place respectively. The remaining eight players played against each other again for another six match days, with the points from the first round being retained. Each of the players played against two opponents in one evening. A final evening took place on May 19, for which the top 4 of the preliminary round qualified. The semi-finals (1 against 4, 2 against 3) took place first. Then the two winners played the final for the Premier League title.
Prize money
The Premier League totaled £ 725,000 in prize money, £ 25,000 more than last year. This additional £ 25,000 was paid out as a bonus to the first place winner on the table before the playoffs. The remaining prize money was distributed among the participants as follows:

qualification
As in the previous year, the first four players of the PDC Order of Merit (deadline: January 3rd, 2016, after the final of the PDC World Darts Championship 2016 ) qualified for the Premier League . In addition, four other players received a wildcard for the Premier League from the PDC and two more from Sky Sports .
Compared to last year, Stephen Bunting and Kim Huybrechts had to leave the field. This year the top 10 of the PDC Order of Merit formed the participants of the Premier League. All previous winners of the Premier League darts took part.
