Kim Huybrechts (born November 16, 1985 ) is a Belgian darts player for the Professional Darts Corporation . His player name is "The Hurricane" and his running-in music is "Hi Ho Silver Lining" by Jeff Beck .

Career

Huybrechts caused a stir in professional darts for the first time in May 2011 when he reached the semi-finals of a championship in Vienna . On his way there he beat well-known greats like Wes Newton and was only defeated in the later course of the tournament against the two-time world champion Adrian Lewis . This first big appearance and a few other tournaments played secured the Belgian a placement in the Top 16 of the Players Championship Order of Merit and the first entry into the World Championship. In the first round of the PDC World Darts Championship 2012 , Huybrechts was able to beat Brendan Dolan 3-0. Huybrechts survived the second round with almost no problems and was able to defeat James Richardson 4-1. In the second round, Huybrechts met his first high-class opponent, Paul Nicholson , but was also able to defeat him 4: 1 and thus made it to the quarter-finals straight away when he participated in his first World Cup. But there the Belgian was defeated by the later finalist Andy Hamilton in best of 9 sets with 2: 5. Nevertheless, Huybrechts was able to look forward to tournament prize money of over £ 25,000 and rose from 69th place to 44th place in the PDC Order of Merit . Huybrechts himself said afterwards that this tournament had been his greatest experience so far and the good performance motivated sponsors to finance him for further PDC events .
