Premier League Darts 2012

The McCoy's Premier League Darts 2012 was an invitational tournament, which by the Professional Darts Corporation was organized. It was played from February 9 to May 17, 2012 in the round robin system with subsequent semi-finals and finals. The 14 preliminary round match days took place on Thursdays from February 9 to May 10, 2012. The play-offs took place on May 17th, 2012 at The O2 Arena in London .

The defending champion was Gary Anderson from Scotland , who defeated reigning World Champion Adrian Lewis from England 10: 4 in legs in a new edition of the 2011 World Cup final in the previous year’s final .

This season, Phil Taylor prevailed, who was both in the lead after the group stage and was able to prevail in the play-off games.

The 2012 Premier League was broadcast live on German television on Sport1 . The pay TV channel Sport1 + showed the match days live and in full.

Prize money

The prize money has increased by £ 50,000 compared to previous years to a total of £ 450,000.

The prize money won was not counted towards the Order of Merit .

qualification

The top four players in the Order of Merit qualified for the Premier League. In addition, two wildcards were awarded by the PDC and the British TV broadcaster Sky Sports . Vice World Champion Andy Hamilton and Kevin Painter , winners of the last Players Championship Finals, took part in the Premier League for the first time.

Competition mode

The eight players each met twice. The matches were played in a best of 14 mode and ended as soon as a player won 8 legs. The Premier League was played on 14 match days, with the top four players qualifying for the play-off semi-finals.
