Perfect game

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In baseball and softball, a perfect game describes a game of a pitcher who does not allow a single opponent to reach first base for the entire duration of the game .

requirements

In baseball and softball , the goal of every team is to get players on the bases when attacking with base hits in order to score runs (points) by running all bases . The defense tries to prevent this by "off" opponents.

If a pitcher or a combination of pitchers succeeds over the full playing distance of 9 or 7 innings that no opposing player reaches first base, this performance is referred to as a perfect game .

The pitcher is therefore not allowed to deliver a base hit , a walk or a hit by pitch . In addition, the defense must not make an error through which a batter reaches first base. A foul ball that is not caught and is considered an error does not affect a perfect game, as it does not put a player on base, but only extends the plate appearance of a batsman.
