Mike Bolsenbroek

Mike Bolsenbroek (born March 11, 1987 in Apeldoorn ) is a Dutch baseball player . The right-handed pitcher was European champion with the Dutch national baseball team in 2014 and won five German baseball championships with the Buchbinder Legionnaires Regensburg . In July 2008, Bolsenbroek signed a professional contract with the Philadelphia Phillies , for whom he played in the minor leagues until 2010 .

Career

youth

Mike Bolsenbroek started playing baseball at Robur '58 Apeldoorn. He played in all age groups in the respective Dutch national teams. From 2004 he played for Mr. Cocker HCAW Bussum in the Honkbal Hoofd class , the highest Dutch baseball league, but soon moved to the USA and continued his baseball training there at El Modena High School and Santa Ana College in California. Bolsenbroek was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2006 and 2007 , but no contract was signed. In 2008 the Philadelphia Phillis drafted it.

Minor Leagues

In the organization of the Philadelphia Phillies, Bolsenbroek played from 2008 to 2010 for various teams in the minor leagues. Most recently he was used as a relief pitcher for the Lakewood Blueclaws in the South Atlantic League. In Spring Training 2011, he failed to qualify for a place on a Phillies team. His contract was terminated.

Buchbinder legionaries and national teams

Mike Bolsenbroek is the starting pitcher of the Buchbinder Legionnaires Regensburg. With them he won five German championships. Bolsenbroek is considered one of the best pitchers in the baseball league. He has been a member of the Dutch national baseball team since 2014. Bolsenbroek also played for the German national baseball team and took part in the World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Regensburg for Germany in 2012 .

Sporting successes

Bolsenbroek became European champions with the Dutch national team in Brno, Czech Republic in 2014. At the same tournament he managed a perfect game against Greece. Bolsenbroek was named the tournament's best pitcher. In the final round of the German Baseball Championship in 2012 , he was named the series' Most Valuable Player . In 2011, 2013 and 2015 Bolsenbroek was named the best pitcher in the Bundesliga South. From 2008 to 2013, he survived an uninterrupted series of 53 games without a loss , recorded 29 wins and remained undefeated for 291.2 innings . On August 29, 2015, Mike Bolsenbroek caused a sensation in the Legionnaires' semi-final against the Solingen Alligators when he threw 18 strikeouts in one game .
