German champion 2012: Buchbinder legionnaires

The German Baseball Bundesliga 2012 was the 29th season of the Baseball Bundesliga . The regular season started on March 30th 2012 with the game Mainz Athletics against Buchbinder Legionnaires and will end on August 25th at the latest. The play-offs began with the quarter-finals on July 14, 2011 and ended with the fifth game of the final on August 25, 2012 at the latest. The Buchbinder legionnaires started the season as defending champions, as in the previous year .

Compared to the 2011 season , the promoted Cologne Cardinals in the Bundesliga North and the Stuttgart Reds in the Bundesliga South were new. Due to the fact that the Gauting Indians withdrew their team from the league for financial reasons, the league was played with only 15 instead of the usual 16 teams, as in the 2011 season .

In the new edition of the final of 2011, Paderborn Untouchables against the Buchbinder Legionnaires , the legionnaires could clearly prevail this time with a sweep and secure the 2012 championship title. That means the Regensburg's third championship title in a row.
