The Bad Homburg Hornets , actually baseball and softball club Bad Homburg Hornets eV, are a German baseball and softball club from Bad Homburg vor der Höhe .
history
The club was founded on July 7, 1992 and first took part in the 1993 season in league operations in the Landesliga Hessen Mitte. Two years later, the first men's team was promoted to the association league, which was the top division in Hesse at that time. The Hornets won the league in the first season of the association's league and were promoted to the Regionalliga Süd in 1996.
A year later, the women's softball team also rose to the association league.
In 1998, the men were promoted to the 2nd baseball league. In the same year the school team became German runner-up. In the following year, the Hornets were penultimate in the second division and were relegated to the regional league and only return with the 2004 regional league championship. For the 2011 season , the Hornets rose to the baseball Bundesliga for the first time in the club's history . After seven years in the baseball upper house, the path to the second Bundesliga had to be taken again in 2018, where the team will still play in the 2019 season. The second team plays in the Landesliga Hessen .
In 2011 the student team was again German runner-up.
The Hornets play their games in the Taunus Ballpark, which was completed in 2005 and is suitable for the Bundesliga . The facility includes a baseball and an integrated softball field and was built by the city of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe exclusively for playing these sports. It is attached to the north-west sports center.
