The Wuppertal Stingrays are the only baseball club in Wuppertal . In 1989 it was founded as the American Football Club 1. AFC Wuppertal Greyhounds and the baseball department was renamed Wuppertal Stingrays in 1995.

In 2000 the youth team won the runner-up . The greatest success of the club was the participation of the first men's team in the first baseball league in 2006 . Despite relegation, the club then had to voluntarily change to the Association League NRW, as too many players dropped out due to study.

In addition to two men's teams and one women's team, the club has a youth and a school team as well as a hobby team, the HitHunters. The game is played either in Wuppertal in the Oberbergische Straße baseball park or in Remscheid on the Grund sports field.

In 2015 the sports field Grund was given up and all teams train and play on the lower sports field on Oberbergische Strasse, the Wuppertal Stingrays Ballpark.
