The Gauting Indians are a baseball and softball club from Gauting near Munich , which emerged in 1991 from a school project at the local Otto von Taube high school . There was a "baseball" group in which some interested students met under the direction of the later Bundesliga player Florian Deisenhofer. During these four days, the foundation stone for baseball was laid in Gauting.

The Gauting Indians (then still as the baseball department of TSV Gauting) were officially founded on January 1, 1992 with 15 members at the time. In the first year of their participation in the official game operation, the Indians were able to record their first major success. In the 1992 season they took first place in the Landesliga Group A without losing points and finally made it to the Bayern League.

After several successful years in the Bayernliga, the Indians men were promoted to the second Bundesliga in 1996, where they have long been a fixture. From 2004 the club played in the first Bundesliga, from which it withdrew after the 2011 season, among other things for financial reasons and due to some players leaving.

Following the German youth championship in 1998 and the vice youth champion in 2002, training in the junior division continues to be at the top of the efforts, the first men's team is currently playing successfully in the 2nd Bundesliga.
