German champion 2011: Buchbinder legionnaires

The German Baseball Bundesliga 2011 was the 28th season of the Baseball Bundesliga . The regular season started on April 2, 2011 with three games and ended on August 13. The play-offs began with the quarter-finals on August 13, 2011 and ended with the fifth game of the final on September 24, 2011.

The Buchbinder Legionnaires from Regensburg were able to successfully defend their title from 2010, the first successful title defense since 2005. Regensburg was able to turn a 2-0 deficit in the series against Paderborn and won the three following games to gain the third title in to secure the club's history. A feat that so far only succeeded in the Mainz Athletics 2007 against those Buchbinder legionaries.

Compared to the 2010 season , the newly promoted Berlin Sluggers in the Bundesliga North and the Bad Homburg Hornets in the Bundesliga South were newcomers. Due to the fact that the Saarlouis Hornets withdrew their team from the league for financial reasons after ten years of membership in the league, the league was only played with 15 instead of the usual 16 teams.
