The 2018 German Baseball Bundesliga was the 35th season of the Baseball Bundesliga . The first German champions were the Bonn Capitals , who won all 40 regular and intermediate round games in the North Season.
The regular playing time started on March 31st and ended on July 6th. It followed from July 28, the intermediate and relegation round. The leaders in the north and south determined the German champions in the play-offs . Heidenheim Heideköpfe started the season as defending champions . The Berlin Flamingos and the Bremen Dockers rose from the 2nd Bundesliga North, the Ulm Falcons from the 2nd Bundesliga South in the respective season of the 1st Bundesliga. The Dortmund Wanderers were relegated from the 1st Bundesliga North and the Bad Homburg Hornets from the 1st Bundesliga South . Thus, for the first time since 2013 , both divisions played again with 8 teams.
The interleague round introduced in the previous season was abolished and replaced by a top 4 round. In this, the four best teams of a season played a round trip as a double header . A table was calculated from the results of these games together with all games from the regular season. The top two qualified for the semifinals.
