The Ulm Falcons were the baseball department of VfB Ulm until 2019 . The Ulm Falcons have been an independent association since 2020. The first men's team of the Falcons has been playing in the Baseball Bundesliga South since the 35th season of the Bundesliga baseball .

history

The Ulm Falcons were founded in 1989 and were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2017 season . This season, the team reached 4th place in the southern division. Since the Neuenburg Atomics and the Tübingen Hawks waived their right of promotion and the second team of the Stuttgart Reds was not eligible for promotion as a reserve team, the Ulm Falcons rose to the top division for the 2018 Bundesliga baseball season .

Although the team finished the 2018 season in last place in the Bundesliga South, relegation was secured for the 2019 season. The first new signing for the 2019 season was the 22-year-old Lithuanian pitcher Robertas Vilimas, who had previously played in the second Italian baseball league.

The Neu-Ulm IT company IT sure GmbH has been the main sponsor of the association since August 2018 , which means that the team also operates under the official name IT sure Falcons . The sponsorship contract is open-ended and included an investment in the "mid five-digit range". The regular 2019 season ended the Falcons in 7th place in the baseball Bundesliga South and thus secured a participation in the relegation series . With two wins in the relegation against the Caribes from Munich, relegation could be secured.

In the 2020 season, the import players and the player-coach had to be dispensed with due to the Corona entry bans. Shortly before the start of the season in Regensburg, the Ulm Falcons signed Daniel Husband as their coach instead .

In addition to two active men's teams , a softball , a youth, a student and a tee ball team take part in the game. There is also a BBQ slow pitch fun team.
