In his artistic practice, Thomas Geiger uses performance , sculpture and language in diverse combinations. He creates fragmentary stage situations with which he often breaks the classic dividing lines between public, private and institutional space.

These minimal performance units are public spaces for the private, ephemeral spaces of memory and transitory monuments. By entering the stage, the secondary documents of subjective identity are briefly transformed into monuments. Little more than a recipe remains from the artist himself, the authorship takes a back seat.

In his performance series Bust Talks ( bust talks ) Geiger understands busts and masks as potential conversation partners, whose experiences and views can unfold new effects in the present. In his work, Festival of Minimal Actions, he gives new life to past actions and performances by other artists. And his long-term performance I want to become a millionaire reflects on the balancing act between artistic and economic production. Thomas Geiger is co-founder of Mark Pezinger Books, a publisher for artist books, and initiator of Kunsthalle3000 , an institution as an intervention in public space.
