history

After the hall served its original purpose, its planned demolition in 1983 was prevented by artists by organizing studio exhibitions. Since then, the simultaneous hall has been used as an exhibition space.

In 1984 the hall became the responsibility of the city of Cologne; since 1989 the artistic program has been designed by changing curators. In the 25 years of its existence, around 150 artists (including Jutta Koether , Kai Althoff and Walter Dahn ) have exhibited in the hall.
